Our Summer Season Opens With A Walloping Foot-
Stomping Musical: ROUTE 66 begins in Chicago and travels along the
famed ‘Main Street of America’ to the coast of
California. A large car radio delivers us to each
new destination along our journey, with DJs and
actual vintage radio ads building excitement along
the way.
In the beginning we hear a radio DJ welcome us to
Chicago, and four service station attendants burst
into THE TEXACO STAR THEME, followed by this string
of hits: LET’S GO FOR A RIDE; BRING MY CADILLAC
BACK; HOT ROD QUEEN; EVERY WOMAN I KNOW. The station
bells ring, and it’s time to head out onto the open
road with ROUTE 66.
Amarillo Texas brings us a law-man a little too big
for his own britches in LONG TALL TEXAN; a humorous
look at a lovely TRUCK STOP CUTIE; and the exciting
Act One Finale – clogging and spooning to the
audience favorite TRUCK DRIVIN’ MAN.
The California sound of the 60s bursts upon us as we
finally reach the outskirts of Los Angeles in THE
LITTLE OLD LADY FROM PASADENA and DEAD MAN’S CURVE.
In our final race toward the coast, we meet our crew
at the Santa Monica Speedway in a medley of racing
hits: SS 396; MOVE OUT LITTLE MUSTANG; HEY LITTLE COBRA; GTO. The Finale brings it all full circle with a wonderful new rendition of ROUTE 66.
"A Midsummer Night’s Dream"The Summer Season continues with Shakespeare in our beautiful outdoor park behind the Jones Theater. Come one hour before the show and bring your picnic, folding chairs and blankets. We have covering in case of rain and if it gets really wet we move into the Jones Theater to finish the performance!
A Midsummer Night’s Dream portrays the adventures of four young Athenian lovers and a group of amateur actors, their interactions with the Duke of Athens, the Queen of the Amazons and with the fairies who inhabit a moonlit night. Don’t miss the fun and adventure in Shakespeare’s best comedy.

Children and Teens from 7 to 16 learn all aspects of stagecraft from theater games, improvisation and makeup techniques as well as how to design their own sets and costumes for their final productions.
These are presented for parents and friends on the last day of each class, at noon, in the Jones Theater.
Sessions run from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, Monday through Friday in Studio 2, adjacent to the Jones. Includes 30 hours instruction.
Costs are $100 for each participant for two weeks and $90 for the second child from the same family. Some scholarships are available.
Call 719-783-3004 for further information and to reserve a place in this year’s camps.

Combine the greatest show tunes of George M. Cohan with a sparkling story and you have the most entertaining, charming, toe-tapping musical of the season. Dick Foster is opening a Broadway show but is having problems with both money and his leading lady.
Enter Mary Collins, an aspiring actress from New Rochelle, plus “Legs” Ruby, a Damon Runyon-type bookie who is on the run from the mob. Just as all appears lost, a financial “angel” appears with the money to do the show, and Mary gets her big chance at stardom.
The Cohan songs are among his most memorable: “Give My Regards To Broadway,” “You’re A Grand Old Flag,” “Mary’s A Grand Old Name” and many more.
"New Rocky Mountain Voices"Plays are selected for their excellence and ability to be produced by our Theater. Performed by the Westcliffe Players.
This year, we will feature ten-minute plays as well as award winning one-act plays by authors from the Rocky Mountain States.
