We are looking for Volunteers!

Volunteer "Theater Hands" needed at the Jones Theater

Have you ever been curious about what goes on backstage at our community theater, but you don’t act, dance or sing? Well guess what? Just as much fun goes on backstage and before and during the performance! Here are some of the jobs that keep a theater like the Jones in business:

Costume Shop:
Remaking and Designing costumes for all our productions. Use your needle and thread to help us create some of the finery and frippery that you enjoy on stage.

Scene Painting and Design:
Those walls don’t just get pink alone. A brush and sponge for a few hours before a performance help us create the illusion of a ranch, a space ship, or the world of OZ.

Stage Makeup and Hairdressing:
Particularly for our Youth Theater shows. We also need backstage moms to keep order and send the actors out on stage, dressed and ready on time.

Set Dressing:
The stage would look bare without someone’s tender care to collect and return the borrowed plants, pictures and special furniture that we need for most of our shows.

Stage Manager:
The directors right hand during any production: Keeps schedules, calls actors if they are late, holds the script and prompts during rehearsal and literally “runs the show” during production. We can’t produce a show without one.

Lights and Sound:
We will give you special training to learn our sound and light board and have the stage manager there to help you during production. We always also want people who can act, dance and direct, but that goes without saying.

We will even reward you with a special invitation to the cast party after opening night of “Your Show”.
